Art Installation used for events celebrating the Bicentenary of The Birth of The Báb, a central figure of the Baha'i faith, in October 2019.
The Báb is a messenger who foretold the coming of Bahá’u’lláh, the founder of the Baha’i Faith.  In October 2019, the international Baha’i community joined in celebrating the bicentenary of His birth. I created an interactive art installation for a celebration in Vancouver to learn about The Báb’s first believers. I focused on Tahirih, a poet who fought for the equality of men and women; Mulla Husayn, the first person to hear The Báb’s message, and Quddus, who is remembered for his bravery and courage in the face of opposition. I also created a map to show the journey of The Báb and Bahá’u’lláh’s life, as both of Them faced a great deal of persecution throughout their lives. The installation caught the attention of other Baha'is through social media, and was then used in other celebrations across the world including Waterloo (Canada), Ottawa, and London (UK).
Interactive map - Participant could trace the path of exile that The Báb (green) and Bahá’u’lláh (orange) took. The map was printed on a large board and nails were put at each city. The participants then used orange and green yarn and wrapped it around the nails, following the order on the page below marking the travels/exile of The Báb and Bahá’u’lláh.
